Mixing color from the background into a color model

To 'soften' the color model into a scene, you often need to blend in a little color from the background artwork. You may want to do this once only for each character for the entire production, or you may want to give a character several alternative palettes, one for each background. To do this:

  1. Load the palette for correcting; see Loading a palette for color correction.
  1. In InkPaint, add the background from which you're blending colors:
    1. Choose Image > Add Background on InkPaint's menu.
    1. Select the background in the dialog box that appears; see Locating a file.
The background appears behind the character.
  1. Select the Tint color correction mode; see Setting the color correction mode.
  1. Tint the palette with a color chosen from the background; see Using Tint mode.
  1. Save the corrected palette; see Applying a correction to disk.
